In San Antonio, the Spurs host Portland in the matchup that has attracted the least national attention of the three but carries the largest long-term implications. Victor Wembanyama — in his third professional season — is averaging 29.2 points, 14.8 rebounds, and 3.9 blocks through Game 4, numbers the San Antonio Express-News described on 27 April as "the most dominant per-game stats by any player before their 23rd birthday in NBA Playoffs history." Portland's guard Scoot Henderson, averaging 22 points and 9 assists, has exploited the Spurs' pick-and-roll coverage vulnerabilities relentlessly, keeping the series level at 2-2. San Antonio's margin for error tonight is real.

Elsewhere around the bracket, Houston avoided elimination Monday, defeating the Los Angeles Lakers in Game 4. Center Alperen Sengun was credited by teammates with delivering a locker-room speech that, per ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, "changed the energy" before tip-off. The Rockets trail that series 3-1; Game 5 is scheduled for 30 April in Los Angeles.
